When I was a little boy I showered once a week
I used to play buck naked in the grass down by the creek
My dad and ma were searching and they wanted to expand
They moved out to the countryside to get back to the land
Shine on, sweet mountain sunshine
Shine your golden rays on me
Soon Ill be coming home to you
Theres no other place Id rather be
They built a little log cabin where the air was pure and
clean
Surrounded by the tallest trees that I had ever seen
The closest neighbors that we had were a half a mile away
Id ditch my clothes and head out for an afternoon of play
So when Im feeling washed away by currents rough and
swift
I think back on those mountains and my mind begins to drift
Of all the things that I remember from my childhood days
The one thing that I cherished most were those golden rays |
